Jay Z Hires 21 Savage A Lawyer For ICE Deportation Case
Jay Z Hires 21 Savage A Lawyer For ICE Deportation Case: 21 Savage was arrested by ICE earlier this week and now Jay Z is coming to the rescue.
It’s being reported that Hov feels that Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph’s arrest is unjust and has hired lawyer Alex Spiro to help with the case.
Jay Z said this about the situation:
“The arrest and detention of 21 Savage is an absolute travesty, his U-Visa petition has been pending for four years. In addition to being a successful recording artist, 21 deserves to be reunited with his children immediately, #Free21Savage.”
Georgia state representative Hank Johnson (who worked with 21 Savage on his back-to-school drive) also shared his thoughts:
“I’m very concerned about the ICE crackdown and what appears to be a targeted operation. Taking the young man down during such a high-profile event as the Super Bowl doesn’t pass the smell test. Claims that Sha Yaa was hiding or ICE’s claims that he was detained because of prior convictions simply aren’t true. Sha Yaa was never convicted and he was openly seeking to renew his Visa. They knew that and still decided to target him. I have a hard time believing that if this was a white singer from Great Britain under the same circumstances that ICE would be going after them with such enthusiasm.”
The Slaughter Gang rapper’s primary attorney Charles H. Kuck asserts, “There is no conviction on his record. Period.” Alex Spiro adds, “We are not going to stop until he is released, bonded out, or in front of a judge. What we have here is someone who overstayed their Visa with an application pending for 4 years, not a convicted criminal that needs to be detained and removed but, by all accounts a wonderful person, father, and entertainer who has a marijuana offense which was vacated and sealed.”
21 Savage released his sophomore album I Am > I Was in December, which debuted in the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 200 list. It currently sits in eighth.
